2025 Design Trends Predictions

Last year, we predicted a handful of trends we thought would boom in 2024. Although millennial pink was shelved for Glinda Pink, we definitely saw a continuous use of abstract gradients, glitter foil, hand drawn illustrations, and AI tools. Our team is back with some year-end design predictions for 2025.

Scrapbook Design Style for Instagram Posts

Already a trend in niche communities, the scrapbook style for Instagram posts combines the carousel feature along with maximalism. I predict this trend will become more mainstream as brands try to stay “authentic” while keeping fresh and on trend. - Ilmaa, Project Coordinator.

Carbon-Conscious Web Design

I have a feeling carbon-conscious website design is going to be a big trend next year. More and more brands are moving past just saying they care about sustainability and are actually showing it — right down to their websites. Think smaller, more efficient sites that still look amazing but also help reduce their carbon footprint. - Natalie, Web Designer.

Vertical Video is Here to Stay

To the dismay of many filmmaking purists worldwide, vertical videos are not going anywhere in the commercial or narrative landscape. I predict that they will become even more desired by audiences as they crave content that best fits the screen they potentially use most, their smartphone. - Jon, Video Editor.

Retro Revival in Modern Design

Retro design elements will make for eye-catching designs while appealing to nostalgic audiences. These designs will utilize vintage color palettes, complex textures, cartoon illustrations, and bold typography in combination with modern technology and design. - Carly, Junior Designer.

Shape Crops on Images

To add that extra branded touch, I predict that we will see a rise in shape crops on images that live on a website or digital collateral item. Squarespace already has over 10 shapes you can crop your image to be, and I predict that this number will only rise. We may also potentially see the opportunity to add custom shape crops to images directly through a design platform like Squarespace. - CP, Partner.

Bold Minimalism

I predict that bold minimalism typography will dominate design in 2025, with oversized, clean fonts and simple color palettes delivering clear, impactful messaging. Its ability to grab attention quickly and align with modern and eco branding will make it a go-to choice for everything from packaging to digital campaigns. - Jada, Design Intern.
