City of Fontana

We created brand assets for the City of Fontana, celebrating its resilience, energy, and pride in a fresh, modern way. This brand has translated to many touchpoints, including merchandise, 2025 Annual Report, and tradeshow designs.

The Challenge

In order to build community pride and promote a positive image, the City of Fontana wanted to create a separate visual identity for their “Experience Fontana” campaign. Experience Fontana aims for a consistent message of showcasing all that Fontana has to offer. The visual identity created would primarily live as merchandise given out at community events, but also extend to brand touch points like billboards, reports, and tradeshow booth designs. The final result needed to be appealing to residents of all ages, but also be approved by all stakeholders, including the City Council. Additionally, we needed to create photography and videography content that harmonized with the values of Experience Fontana and was scalable, professional, and told the City of Fontana’s story.

 

The Process

Fontana is a city rich with history, and our visual identity design process began by diving deep into the past, present, and future of Fontana. Our team explored a variety of ideas, compositions, and styles, including nods to Fontana’s steel mill past, the Lewis Library, orange groves, and iconic fountains. For photo and video, we focused on highlighting the present and future of Fontana.

 

The Results - Visual Identity

The Experience Fontana identity is bright, fun, and scalable. The fountain icon can easily be replaced with any of the sub-icons created to represent experiencing the arts, entertainment, recreation, or general life in Fontana. The typography is unique, but the bold sans serif font makes it easy to read.

 
 

The Results - Annual Report

Based on the energetic and vibrant brand created for “Experience Fontana”, Hueman Studio was contracted to create the 2025 Annual Report. This 44 page report acts as a recap of the year: showcasing Fontana’s departmental achievements, finances, and future outlooks. Aside from a strong visual system, the report design required consistency in information design and editorial layouts.

These videos tell Fontana’s story in how they are enriching the lives of those who live, work, play, and invest in the city.
